Do you want to be part of a community who sings to empower ourselves and others? Who use our voices in harmony to transform the space around us? Do you want to allow the full power of your voice to come through, filling and occupying the space around you with your essence?
Join us in community twice each month to sing, explore our voices and share our growth edges. We will work towards a collaborative piece to present (mostly likely via video) as a final performance of the term.
We work from Natural Voice Network principles which stems from the belief that everyone can, and should sing for joy and wellbeing. We do warm-ups that allow us to ease into the voice naturally and create optimal conditions for singing. We sing songs that are easier to access than classical singing (though we may occasionally sing a classical song that suits).
We will be mindful of the fact that women (and especially women of colour) have historically been denied the right to have a voice and will discuss the implications of this on our voices, as well as doing physiological exercises that can shift how we hold this in our bodies so we can empower our voices.
We will begin to explore, as it arises, how we learn to perceive or bring out our own creative essence and allow our singing to become infused with it.
You can expect:
More joy, belonging and empowerment. The opportunity to express yourself and move through occasional discomfort to more freedom and self-awareness. Singing beautiful, powerful and inspiring songs in harmony.
